Disclaimer: This tutorial is for information purposes only and does void your warranty. By following this tutorial you release Myself (refused9150) and heliocity.net from all liability that may result as a direct or indirect result of doing maintenance on your own device. These techniques work for me but may not work for you. Follow this tutorial at your own risk!!

There have been several people asking how to fix the tracks on the Helio Ocean or how to clean dust out from under the screen. No one has been able to explain how to do this so I went ahead and wrote out this tutorial for anyone brave enough (or desperate enough) to open it up and try to fix it themselves. If you have any questions I'm here to help. Fell free to give me feedback.  ENJOY!!

(NOTE: sorry the watermarks kinda destroy the pictures. I will update it with better pictures as I get them.)

Step 1:
Flip your Ocean over and take out the battery. Your Ocean should look something like this:

Step 2:
Now you must take the back plate off. I used a razor for this as it was the only thing that would fit in the grove. There are eleven tabs holding it out so you must be very careful. The tabs have been outlined in yellow. Start at one end and work your way around to the other side. [/b]

Step 3:
Ok now your Ocean should look as pictured below. There are seven screws holding the bottom part together. One is under a black sticker in the center. Note: Removing this sticker Voids your warranty.  Remove all seven screws and proceed to pry the two pieces apart. They snap together so a little effort is required.  I found it easiest to start at the headphone jack and work from there. Careful not to pull the rubber buttons off.

Step 4:
Your phone should now look something like this:

Now there are 2 tabs holding the main board to the plastic shell. Just pull them back and carefully lift the board out. MAKE SURE YOU PULL IT OFF SLOW. There is a connector connecting the two boards. Carefully just pull straight up on it and it should unhook real easily.

Step 5:
Now take out the keyboard and you will see seven screws before you. They connect the keyboard tracks. Just remove them and the pieces should come apart with no problem.

Step 6:
Now you see the backs of the tracks. First off there are two screws that you need to remove. Now the entire grey panel needs to be snapped out. Start with your razor blade or what ever you used before at the red circle and work your way around all the tabs shown with red arrows. Then just lift the piece off.

Step 7:
Now one of the track pieces is loose. Don’t loose it! You can even see the odd spring they had to invent to make the duel slider work.   It kind of looks like a bent paper clip.  Now put the tracks in place as shown below so they will line up.

Step 8:
Now snap the grey piece back on and replace the 2 screws. Your device should now look like this:

Step 9:
Now place the keyboard piece (with all the holes) back on and make sure the screw holes align. They should be right on.  Just tighten the screws and test to make sure it slides right. It should now look like this:

Step 10:
Place the keyboard back in place. Grab the board and snap it into place. Your device should now look like this:

Step 11:
Now its time to take the back piece and snap it back into place. Now just replace the screws and put the back plate back on. Put your battery in cross your fingers and hope it turns on. Now if done correctly your phone should slide just as it did on day one. Feel free to shoot me comments or questions you have. [/b]

You are very kind for offering this tutorial. I'm pretty certain many will be able to salvage their devices as well.

Ha Ha thanks man. I figure I have used a ton of tutorials and risking my device isn't the end of the world. Someone had to do it and I figured I've waited long enough. And with so many people here and there claiming to have done it but without proof and not being able to explain how they did it I figured it was just a bunch of talk. Started doing it at work actually. Couldn't wait till I got home.

I am familiar with the Motorola and Nokia phones. I've disassembled and reassembled multiple models for service repairs such as screen replacements, housing repairs etc.  I'm waiting to purchase some Helio devices that I can test some of the Homebrews on and hardware fixes. Thanks again for the in depth tutorial. I aim to offer more to the community than just my opinions as well.

Thank you. Its not my first and wont be my last. Glad you liked it. I'm kinda not happy about the pictures quality. Mostly the lighting.

I have an update to this in the works now. Just more in depth about how to get the hinge out.

could you make some sort of diagram as to how the "paper clips" are to be routed around posts and what not. That is my problem. Apparently my clips have come undone at the ends. So i dont know where they go or what, and i dont know how to get the mechanism apart so that i can see what to do. Everything you have is fine, thank you so much, now i just need you to go a little farther please.

Thanks

Im not sure what i need.  Undecided My paper clip is connected at one spot. and i dont know where it goes at other posts and how it is supposed to look, and i cant see much of anything out of the few slits in the thing.

About how much time? Its 11 where i am and i would like go to bed soon, but if it is within the next 30 minutes i will keep it apart.

Once again thank you for all the information
